Plastic cards with contact memory chip
Memory cards, often referred to as chip cards, are simply cards with a chip – an electronic circuit that enables saving information on the card.
Unlike cards with RFID modules, a chip card must be inserted into the reader. The transfer of information from the chip to the reader takes place when the appropriate contacts in the reader connect with the surface of the chip on the card.
The chip has a larger memory capacity than the magnetic stripe, so it can store more information. The chip on the card is placed on one side of the card, closer to the short edge.
The chip card is used in places such as:
- production companies (access to halls, rooms)
- restaurants (logging into the system)
- hotels (door locks)
- schools (electronic student ID cards)
- banking (payment cards, credit cards).
There are many types of chips, so make sure which model you need before submitting your inquiry. If you already have a system with readers, computers, etc., check the chip information in the reader’s technical specifications.
