Plastic student ID cards
We print plastic ID cards for students – traditional ID cards, with basic personalization, or advanced proximity ID cards for electronic identification and access control systems.
Convenient dimensions of a standard bank card. A print consistent with the visual identification of the university. Personalized, with possible protection against counterfeiting. And most often, with radio tags that work with authorization systems. This is what a modern student ID card might look like.
The basic specification of a plastic student ID card may look like this:
- material: white PVC (or other colors),
- format: 86×54 mm (CR-80), rounded corners,
- thickness: 0.76 mm (760 microns),
- offset printing, full CMYK color,
- signature bar,
- RFID tag.

Student ID cards – personalization options
Card personalization – linking the ID card with the student and the university’s identification system is the most important function of the ID card. Such personalization can be done in many ways, depending on the needs of the facility.
- ID cards for individual personalization.
Branches that have their own plastic card printer can order cards with attractive graphic prints in full CMYK colors, but will make the necessary personalization prints themselves. Such a printer can print a barcode, the reader’s name, surname, numbers, and even a photo on such a ready-made card. - ID cards with RFID tag.
ID cards can be equipped with microtags that communicate with the authorization system via radio waves. Contactless ID cards are convenient and have a large memory capacity. In addition to the basic function of student identification, they can fulfill many additional functions, such as opening rooms or providing access to university devices. - ID cards with combination of elements.
Modern card printing techniques enable the production of cards with almost any combination of selected personalization, functional, decorative, and security elements. ID cards can therefore have a high-quality, colorful print covered with laminate, a unique barcode on each card, an additional QR code with, for example, the university address encoded, and a signature strip for the student. In this way, the ID card will fulfill many functions at the same time, both for the institution and the student.
Student cards – security options
In most cases, student ID cards will require special security prints to protect the ID against counterfeiting. Such security may, for example, be microprints – microscopic prints visible only when enlarged, or a similar technique guilloche – a complex ornamental drawing consisting of many thin curved lines. Both methods require high-quality offset printing and cannot be done with simple card printers. Common security methods are also hologram or “invisible” UV printing.
We cordially invite schools and universities to cooperate. Thanks to many years of experience in the production of plastic cards and ID badges, we are able to advise on the selection of appropriate solutions and ID elements. Please contact contact and, if necessary, send quote form to find out the approximate cost of producing an ID card with the selected printing options.
