The versatility, functionality and convenience of plastic cards have made them an increasingly popular choice not only for companies, but also for government agencies and non-governmental organizations. Personalization, equipping the cards with radio communication modules, and the ability to record information on the cards enable the use of plastic cards as city cards, ID cards, business ID cards, city tickets, reader cards, senior cards, etc.

City cards – possibilities

Equipped with modern plastic card production elements, city cards can provide a wide range of benefits, both for users and the organization issuing the cards. Facilitating public transport, access to selected cultural events or city services, identifying citizens and authenticating access to government services. Simplified administrative processes, easier monitoring of the use of provided services – all this is possible thanks to the two main elements of the cards:

• personalization – printing variable numerical or personal data on cards, which connects the issued card with its user. The card can be printed with, among others: card number, name and surname, photo, barcode or QR code, and equipped with a signature strip.
• proximity radio modules – commonly referred to as RFID tags, facilitate radio communication between the card and tag readers. These modules also enable the storage of information, making it possible to encode user identification data and service parameter information onto the card.

By equipping the card with such elements, it can be used as an ID card, access card, ticket, city card, parking card, resident card, etc. Such a card is unique, assigned to only one user, is programmed and can communicate with appropriate readers. Such cards can be additionally secured with microprint, hologram or invisible UV printing. And if necessary, also decorated – with embossed inscriptions, convex or metallic prints.
